»Breaking Down Walls«

YC Kotlovnica is a youth centre in Kamnik and it was founded in 2006. YC Kotlovnica has recently been accredited as an European Voluntary Service host and sending organization and »Breaking Down Walls« is our first project within the European Voluntary Service programme.

The core of the project is working in the youth centre, attending different workshops and learning about photography, internet and comuptering and video/audio technique, organizing movie and poetry nights and also cooperating with other youth organizations in our town (schools, libraries, ...).

One of the project's results is this webpage, others will be a photo exhibition, a short movie and a series of cultural evenings, which are focused on intercultural dialogue and understanding between Polish and Slovene culture. The project is due to last 6 months – from end of December 2008 till end of June 2009.

About EVS

The European Voluntary Service (EVS) provides young Europeans aged 18 – 30 years with the unique chance to express their personal commitment through unpaid and full-time voluntary activities in a foreign country within or outside the EU for up to 12 months.

In this way, it seeks to develop solidarity, mutual understanding and tolerance among young people, thus contributing to reinforcing social cohesion in the European Union and to promoting young people's active citizenship.

EVS is a part of a programme Youth In Action, supported by European Comission.
